Why a UPI QR code

In India, most small payments now start with a scan rather than cash or a card. A UPI QR code holds a standard upi://pay instruction with your UPI ID, the payee name, an optional amount in rupees and a note, so Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or any bank's UPI app opens the payment ready to approve. Everything is inside the image, so scanning never depends on QR Global being online; a different UPI ID or amount, however, calls for a fresh code.

  • One code is accepted by every UPI app, whichever one the customer prefers.
  • Leave the amount open for a shop counter, or set it for an exact bill.
  • The note travels with the payment, which helps match transfers to orders.
  • No intermediary: the money moves from the payer's bank straight to yours.

Kirana stores and street vendors

A laminated code at the counter accepts whatever amount the customer types.

Home tutors and coaching classes

Monthly fee slips carry a code with the amount and the student's name as the note.

Cash-on-delivery orders

A code on the packing slip lets the customer pay the exact order total at the door.

Housing societies

Maintenance notices include a code with the flat number in the payment note.

Temples and community events

Donation boxes and stalls display an open-amount code for voluntary contributions.

UPI Payment QR Code Generator

Enter your UPI ID (VPA), the payee name, an optional amount in INR and a payment note. They become a upi://pay link that follows the NPCI specification and sits inside the printed code itself.

What is this QR code?

UPI is India's Unified Payments Interface, run by NPCI. Scanning the code opens the payment screen in the payer's UPI app with the payee and amount already filled in, and the payer approves it with their UPI PIN. Nothing passes through QR Global on the way, which is also why a different UPI ID or amount requires printing a fresh code.

Best use cases

  • ✓Shop counters and market stalls that take UPI payments.
  • ✓Invoices and delivery receipts with a fixed amount.
  • ✓Tuition, rent and housing society collections.
  • ✓Event registrations and club dues collected in rupees.

How to generate your QR code

1

Copy your UPI ID from the profile screen of the UPI app you receive money in.

2

Add the name customers should see and, if useful, a note such as an order number.

3

Type a rupee amount only when every payer owes the same sum.

4

Make a small test payment from another phone to confirm the code works end to end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which apps can scan this code?

Any UPI app, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and most Indian banking apps, recognises the standard upi://pay format.

Can I request payment in another currency?

No. The UPI specification allows only Indian rupees, so the amount is always in INR.

When is the money actually sent?

Only after the payer enters their UPI PIN in the app. Until then, the screen just shows who is being paid and how much.

What is a UPI ID?

Your virtual payment address, such as name@okhdfcbank. You find it in the profile section of your UPI app; type it exactly, because the code carries it unchanged.

Can I set an amount with paise?

Yes, amounts with two decimal places work. Leave the field empty if customers should enter the amount themselves.

Does the payee name have to match my bank account?

Before paying, the app shows the payer the name registered with your UPI ID. Use the same name in the code so customers are not confused.

Do I get payment confirmations from QR Global?

No. The code only starts a payment to your UPI ID. Confirmations, settlement and reports come from your bank or UPI app.

Why are scans not counted for this code?

UPI apps read the payment straight from the image and never contact QR Global, so there is no scan log to show.

Can customers pay from outside India?

Only with a UPI app linked to an Indian bank account, or where UPI is offered to international users. The amount is always in rupees.
