Why a PromptPay QR code
Thai customers pay by scanning almost everywhere, from street food stalls to utility bills. A PromptPay QR code is a Thai QR Payment code that every Thai banking app reads directly. Choose the PromptPay ID behind it: a mobile number, a national or tax ID, an e-wallet ID, or a biller ID with bill references for invoices. Add an amount in baht or leave it open for the payer. The national ID is checked with its control digit before the code is built, which catches typos early. All payment data is encoded in the picture itself, so banks read it without contacting QR Global, and it has no end date.
- Every Thai banking app understands it; before confirming, the payer sees the registered name.
- Supports mobile numbers, national and tax IDs, e-wallet IDs and biller IDs.
- Bill payment with Reference 1 and 2 lets the payment arrive matched to a customer or invoice.
- The ID's control digit is checked, so a mistyped national ID never reaches print.
Street food and markets
Vendors hang one open-amount code for every customer instead of handling change.
Online sellers in chats
Shops selling through messaging apps send the code as an image, and buyers pay from their gallery.
Rent and utilities
Landlords issue a biller code with the room number as Reference 1 so each payment is identified.
Schools and tutors
Fee slips carry the student ID as a reference and the exact amount in baht.
Tours and transport
Drivers and guides accept fares from Thai passengers without carrying cash.

What is this QR code?
Thai QR Payment is the Bank of Thailand's standard for scan-to-pay. A PromptPay code built on it names the recipient's ID, and the payer's bank shows the registered account name for confirmation. Once downloaded, the image works on its own, with no link to QR Global.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which banking apps support it?
Every Thai banking app that supports Thai QR Payment, including K PLUS, SCB Easy, Krungthai NEXT and Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking.
Does the payer see who they are paying?
Yes. The banking app looks up the PromptPay ID and shows the registered name before the transfer is confirmed.
Can I change the amount after printing?
No. The code is static, so a new amount needs a new code. Leave the amount empty if it varies.
Can I accept bill payments with references?
Yes. Choose Biller ID, enter the 15-digit Biller ID from your bank's bill payment service and Reference 1 (plus Reference 2 if your bank uses it). The bank passes the references to you with each payment.
Which PromptPay ID should I use?
A mobile number or national ID for individuals, a tax ID for companies, an e-wallet ID for wallet accounts, and a biller ID when your bank has set you up for bill payment. The ID must be registered for PromptPay.
What are Reference 1 and Reference 2?
Fields of the bill payment format that reach you together with the money: Reference 1 is required, for example a customer or room number, and Reference 2 is optional. Each takes up to 20 Latin letters, digits or symbols, without Thai script.
Can buyers pay from a screenshot?
Most Thai banking apps can read a QR code from an image saved in the gallery, which is how payments in chat apps usually work. A printed code is scanned with the camera as usual.
Should I fill in the amount?
For fixed prices and invoices, yes: the payer cannot change it. For stalls and tips, leave it blank and the customer enters the sum in their app.
Why did my national ID get rejected?
Thai IDs have 13 digits, and the last one is a control digit calculated from the others. If it does not match, the number contains a typo; check it against the ID card or company registration.
Is it possible to update a printed PromptPay code?
No. The ID and amount are part of the image, so any change means a new code, and this type has no scan counter.
